Paul Harry Allen
Hailing from the Lovely Land of Wales, Paul trained as an actor in Hertfordshire, and later, as part of a double act, wrote and performed sketches, culminating in a writing and research contract for Ragdoll productions, or plan B to the Teletubbies. Then followed The Write Stuff. Shown on Channel 4 and made by Rapido, it was a semi-educational programme in which he also appeared, most notably as the Rapido Frog. He has also featured in two seasons of Comedy Project at the Soho Theatre, where, as well as having two of his sitcoms performed, he appeared in the end of season sketch shows.
Since becoming a stand up comic, he has been a Hackney New Act finalist in 2006, played The Kings Head, Crack Comedy, The Good Ship, Comedy Tree, Clapham Comedy Club, Highlight and recently opened Time Out Presents at The Bloomsbury Theatre. He's shared a bill with Bob Dylan, Ray Davies and Van Morrison at The Hop Farm Festival in 2010. He is also a regular performer at Pull The Other One.
His Edinburgh shows include, The Good, The Bad & The Cuddly -2008, Parry & Allen's Revolutions - 2009 and this Festival also featured his first foray into puppetry with The Accidental Dog Detective , a film noir shadow puppet thriller ('oodles of ideas and inspiration' - The Skinny ****). In 2010 he returned to Edinburgh with his first solo show 'The Lost Letters Of Cathy G' ('a real charming hour' - Time Out ****)and in 2011 he is back with a brand new show 'Stuff & Nonsense'.
