Paul Dennis

"A born storyteller...masterful sense of comic timing...sparkling vocal abilities" - EdFringeReview
"One to watch" - Kate Copstick
"Hilarious...A lovely writer" - Fahey Young & Linda Haggar
"One of the best if not THE best comedy songs on the circuit" - Clown's Pocket Comedy Clubs
"Fantastic material...slick delivery" - Creative Cows.

Paul has been a standup since 1999 and the comfortable dexterity with which he guides an audience along the rails of his rollocking rollercoaster is a reflection of his experience. He combines fresh observational humour with a conversational narrative giving way to occasional ludicrous rants reaching melodramatic peaks of near-Shakespearean proportions. Eloquent and article, yes, but he can get pretty near the knuckle too and always gets away with it with aplomb.

As a seasoned multi-instrumentalist and singer prior to becoming a comic, he has shared stages with artists as disparate as Ziggy Marley and Corduroy, Chas n Dave and The Beat. At Edinburgh 2012, Paul appeared with Nova Lounge at LATE N LIVE ("this guy's voice is gonna knock your socks off" - Christian Reilly). When he introduces songs into the mix, it is these well honed skills that deliver not just the laughs but an impressive display of musical accomplishment. ("You're like a fat Tim Minchin" - audience member)

While living in America, Paul performed standup at, among others, Gotham Comedy Club, The World Famous Comic Strip, New York Comedy Club and the Hollywood Improv alongside the likes of Doug Stanhope, Jim Gaffigan, Dimitri Martin, Ed Helms and Greg Giraldo.

Since Returning to the UK he has performed at clubs with the likes of Mitch Benn, Scott Cappurro, John Gordillo and Stewart Lee. His Edinburgh shows in 2011 and 2012 both received four star reviews with ThreeWeeks citing the former as "something totally unexpected and completely amazing".

While developing a new show for Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival and the Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals 2013, Paul is also finalising work on an independant comedy film "With The Flatiron Stuck To Your Face". In April 2013, Paul will play a Macchiavellian rock n roll manager in a new original musical comedy "The Musician" co-written and starring Stefan Pejic (About a Boy, Casualty).

Paul was born and raised in South Wales and as an actor and writer performed alongside Russell T Davies, Steffan Rhodri and Michael Sheen. Paul is fanatical about cinema and lives in Hampshire with his daughter and an old guitar.
