Ed de Cantor
Winner of the 2015 Silver Stand-Up Awards
“Guaranteed to blow the roof off” Grinstock Comedy, East Grinstead
"He quickly had the audience convulsed in laughter with some of the best material we've seen at our gigs. His demeanour which resembles an inappropriate uncle at a family gathering means his delivery is both unique and incredibly funny. This man is going places in comedy." Café Cream Comedy, Minehead
"We really liked this comedian. Being public school educated he has the plumiest of voices, which has a wonderful comedic effect when he is telling the filthiest of jokes, plus name dropping senior Tory MPs and establishment figures." The Cheeky Monkey Comedy Club, Birmingham
In the late 1990’s Ed de Cantor performed stand-up regularly alongside many comedians who have gone on to become household names like Jimmy Carr, Michael McIntyre and Paul Chowdhry, but a demanding day job as a national newspaper journalist severely restricted his progress. Having retired from the day job, he embarked on a second stand-up career in June 2014 at the age of 56 and is enjoying a burgeoning reputation as a hilarious and somewhat quirky character act, who combines astute observations with clever word play and humorous poetry. He has already gigged alongside comics as formidable as John Moloney and Mike Wozniak, and in February 2015 won the prestigious Silver Stand-Up Awards, the national competition for the best comedian aged over 55 held at Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival.
He has a great stage presence and strikingly confident delivery and is interested in doing 10 minute, 15 minute or 20 minute slots.
